Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme Assam welcomes all the girls in Assam to get registered and avail of the mentioned benefits. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam has started this initiative to promote girl empowerment. The scheme will offer financial support to the girls in Assam for their education and also will help reduce the cases of child marriage in the state.

The Objectives

The scheme has been launched with certain basic yet important objectives. 

  • Encouraging more girls to join Higher Education.
  • Improving the education standards of girls in Assam by making more girls take up higher education post-matriculation.
  • Reducing cases of dropouts of girls from school.
  • Eradicating the unethical practice of child marriage.
  • Improving upon the GER of Assam. 

Who is eligible for the scheme?

Here are some eligibility criteria that the girls in Assam have to fulfill to get the benefits from this scheme. 

  • This scheme is only for the girls who are permanent residents of Assam.
  • Married girls cannot avail of this scheme’s benefits unless they are not pursuing a B.Ed or P.G.
  • Girls who are already in a job or are admitted to B.Ed also are not eligible for this scheme.
  • Daughters of Ministers and other Government officials cannot get this scheme benefits. 
  • Girls who get scooters under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme’s Banikanta Kakati Awarad will also not be eligible for this scheme unless they opt out of receiving the scooter.

Benefits of the Scheme

Girls who are eligible for this scheme will get a range of benefits and these are mentioned here. 

  • Girls enrolled in Class 11, will start getting a financial benefit of Rs. 1000 every month for 10 continuous months each year if the study continues. 
  • Girls who get enrolled in Graduation will get Rs. 1250 every month for a maximum of 10 months if the education continues. 
  • Similarly, support of Rs. 2500 per month will be provided to girls enrolling in post-graduation courses. 
  • The incentive will not be paid in case of a vacation which is for more than a month.
  • During the session of 2024-25, the beneficiaries will get the incentives only for 9 months.
  • The benefits of the scheme will not be applicable for June and July each year. 

How to Apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme 2024?

Girls must apply for this scheme offline. Here is the method that you can use to apply for the scheme. 

Step – 1 – The eligible candidates must first collect the application form from their respective education institutions. 

Step – 2 – Make sure that you have provided details in the form correctly.

Step – 3 – The Principals and Registrars of the institutions will verify the applications first and then will feed them into the portal for further verification.

Step – 4 – If the student continues the education journey, the principal or the registrar will forward the certificate automatically to the portal for continued financial assistance to the girls. 

Guardians of the students must be aware of the scheme and should allow their girls to study and prosper in life.
